This Millcreek based sushi shop is one of the very best in Utah. The funkily designed space is decked out in street-styled graffiti art and eye popping colors. DJs and live music play in the evenings as the chefs work tirelessly crafting creative maki and sashimi. Tuesday is $2.50 Tuesdays where you can snag two pieces of any sashimi for just $2.50.

Kaze Sushi

Meanwhile, over in downtown SLC you’ll find this modern Japanese restaurant that offers a deep and diverse menu; everything from Japanese style steaks through to sashimi, nigiri and maki rolls. If you find yourself in the heart of the city, this is your best choice.

Kyoto

As classic a Japanese restaurant as you will find for hundreds of miles in any direction – and probably further. Kyoto started selling traditional Japanese fare back in the 1980s and has grown ever since. The sushi counter came in the 2000s and more recently – chef Peggi Whiting – one of the best sushi chefs in the state.

Part of the Sapa group (also another solid choice) is this brace of businesses – one in bountiful, one in West Valley City. Both share a keenly priced menu of attractive and modern maki rolls.

Takashi

This downtown Salt Lake City restaurant is an institution. Ever since owner and sushi guru Takashi Gibo made the leap from Main Street’s Shogun, to start his own restaurant, the crowds have never er stopped. Seriously, swing by any evening after 5 p.m. and you’ll likely have to wait in line to grab a seat.
