Chinese food in Utah isn’t the most well represented of cuisines. People often complain that they can’t find great Chinese flavors here – but don’t give up! There are some really stellar options, you just need to know where to look!
Travel North of Salt Lake City and head to the small town of Woods Cross. Nestled in a strip mall is this unassuming Chinese eatery that has a speciality of Shanghai cuisine. Notable dishes include the house made fat noodles, sesame balls and xiao long bao (soup dumplings).
Foodie N Sweetie
This modest space is located just outside of the downtown SLC core in the historic Avenues neighborhood. The restaurant is a simple cafe setup and has fabulous dumplings, pot stickers and handful of noodle dishes.
One More Noodle House
A currently highly regarded noodle-centric restaurant in the China Town complex. The menu is extensive, if you can’t find the noodle of your dreams here, its time to give up. Of particular note – plenty of sizzling Sichuan dishes.
China town area
Speaking of which, just head on down to the relatively new China town facility in South Salt Lake – wander around and see what grabs your attention. The strip mall facility has a range of restaurants and Asian grocers. There’s always something new going on, and a range of flavors to explore.
New Golden Dragon
A multi-decade staple of the SLC dining scene with a mix of American-Chinese dishes (Cantonese leaning) and plenty of authentic Chinese dishes; our favorite is the salty fish and chicken fried rice. Dim sum service at the weekend, open seven days a week and delivers directly without a third party app.
An upscale restaurant in Sugar House that is predominantly Vietnamese. There are however a range of dinner and lunch specials that focus instead on Chinese. Home to one of the best fried rice in town.
This humble spot in South Salt Lake is home to a hidden treasure – the best Taiwanese food in all of Utah.
